From the original publication of the first two titles in 1999, Tractor Mac now has ten storybooks, an activity book and a board book for younger readers. The stories all have a moral and the illustrations are bright, vibrant and fun. Each book has animals repeated on every page and hidden elements in the illustrations to engage children in the artwork as well as the stories. The end page diagrams featured in every book are inspired by Virginia Burton's "Mike Mulligan and the Steam Shovel", which was one of the author's favorite books as a child.
