SIMPLY MADELEINE Just Released By Madeleine Forte

SIMPLY MADELEINE Just Released By Madeleine Forte

"Simply madeleine: the memoir of a post-world war II french pianist" (published by AuthorHouse) brings Franco-American pianist Madeleine Forte's life story of "obstacles and successes, of extraordinary talent, and of a long and fascinating life of international study and performance" to life.

Forte's story begins in Africa during World War II. Her early years are explored and how her gift was realized during an early age. Forte's adventures through boarding school and musical studies are detailed, along with her ongoing studies as a pupil. Forte also shows the reader her three marriages and how hard it is to become a renowned professional in the arts.

Praise from The New Yorker:

"At a time when national styles have all but dissolved into a generalized international goulash, Forte's gorgeous tone and sensuous line evoke classic French pianism ... her Maurice Ravel holds its own against interpretations by many of her more celebrated peers, from the chaste simplicity of the Sonatine to the virtuosic 'Gaspard de la Nuit,' in which no prisoners are taken and no notes are dropped."

Readers will follow Forte along her rollercoaster life as she tries to make a name in the musical world and solidify her collapsing world.

"I want readers," says Forte, "to learn from my failures, successes, courage, strength, love and personal experience entirely."

Madeleine Forte has won prizes in international competitions in Viotti, Italy; Maria Canals, Spain; and Guanabara, Brazil.

As a girl she studied with Alfred Cortot and Wilhelm Kempff. She holds an artist diploma from the École Normale de Musique, Paris, and from the Frédéric Chopin Academy in Warsaw. She holds a B.M. and M.S. from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Rosina Lhévinne and Martin Canin. She also earned a Ph.D. from New York University.
