A once-idyllic little town has become gripped with fear, for people have been disappearing at night, and rumors have spread of nameless things lurking in the dark. While old weary men and their wives remain too scared to act, a young man will take it up to himself to venture into the night and face the beasts prowling in The Shadows. This is a tale of fantasy, bravery, adventure and coming of age, this is author Lord Biron's Londenberg.
As the night sky falls upon the cottage town of Cifice, rumors begin to be whispered in hushed voices. Many townsfolk wonder about the strange disappearances plaguing the country. They warn others that traveling at night may not be such a wise thing to do in these times. Some lay the reason for the tragic events on a royal decree that has exiled a once-popular and ancient order of clerics. Other say that the hardships are caused by the disbanding of the last remaining fighter's guild. Nonetheless, hideous green creatures have begun to lurk about the land in darkness, as though seeking out their next hunt.
Amidst these terrifying times, one brave outcast of a youth by the name of Paul has no other choice but to take action as he packs up his rucksack. Looking into his elderly father's tearful eyes, he grabs his hooded green cloak and then his sturdy wooden longbow. He realizes that he has accepted the risk of losing his life and has decided to venture outside the comforts of his village of Cifice into this dark unknown world.
