Living the Life You Love: The No-Nonsense Guide to Total Transformation by Life Direction Coach Paula Renaye is one of only four self-help and how-to books named to Kirkus Reviews' Best of 2012 Indie top 100 books list.
"Indie publishing exploded in 2012," says Karen Schechner, Editor, Kirkus Reviews. "With nearly a quarter of a million titles self-published in the U.S. this year alone, just about everyone can now name at least one self-published superstar. Indie editors Ryan Leahey, David Rapp and I narrowed this worthy assemblage to our top 100 titles."
Renaye's book made the list and is also pegged as a self-help superstar by mental health, medical and other professionals. Living the Life You Love: The No-Nonsense Guide to Total Transformation is widely endorsed as a practical and effective template for self-discovery and determining life direction.
George Pratt, PhD, renowned Energy Psychology leader and author of Code to Joy, says Renaye's personal development guide is a "no-nonsense, get-to-the-point approach to real-life self-improvement that works."
Douglass Cook, MD, of The Sober MD, agrees. Having treated thousands of addicts in his career in addiction medicine, Dr. Cook says the book is "a perfect supplement to anyone trying to overcome addiction by working a 12-step recovery program."
Living the Life You Love was also selected as a critics' pick and received a Kirkus Star, which is awarded to books of exceptional merit.
The critical praise and professional accolades come as a surprise to Renaye. "I had no idea it would touch a common chord with so many and have such a universal appeal, or that it would be recommended as self-therapy." She explains that she was simply writing the book she needed and couldn't find, hoping it would help others get out of their misery much quicker than she had. "I was in pain and I wanted a way out-a simple and practical one. I needed a how-to manual to help me get my head straight and my life on track. I never found one, so I wrote it."
