New Book is a Gripping Look at the Dark Side of Thai Society

New Book is a Gripping Look at the Dark Side of Thai Society

There is a side to Thailand that very few people have seen and experienced. Darren Mcdonough is one of those people. In his new book, "It Should Never Have Happened to Me", he recounts his experiences during a revealing sojourn in Thailand and takes readers alongside his odyssey through and out of the country's seamy underbelly of sex, crime and drugs.

On October 2003, Mcdonough headed for Thailand entranced by stories of what the country's underworld had to offer. What he did not know then was that he would become enmeshed in more than just cheap sex, alcohol and drugs. Mcdonough's book may be divided into two parts; the first follows his footloose exploits through the country's red light districts. The second chronicles what the author describes as "a huge miscarriage of justice and human rights abuse I received at what had to be one of the worst prisons imaginable." Mcdonough's account will shock and ultimately enlighten readers of the grim realities that pervade Thai society.

Timely, redemptive and brutally honest, "It Should Never Have Happened to Me" is both a startling exposé of the dark side of Thailand and a chronicle of one man's quest to overcome the trauma he experienced there.
