Kevin Treloar Draws Inspiration, Enjoyment and Learning from AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL SYMBOLS AND MEANINGS

Impelled by his fascination, admiration and passion for the symbols, language and culture of the Aboriginal people in Australia, author Kevin Treloar publishes his book titled, Australian Aboriginal Symbols and Meanings. Through his newly published work, Treloar takes readers back in time when the Aboriginal people of Australia roamed free on their land and when the first known people used symbols as a way to communicate their stories.

There are many different sets of Aboriginal symbols and languages, and they vary from tribe to tribe. There were roughly 600 tribes and around 500 people in a tribe-a population of around 300,000 when Captain Cook first arrived in Australia. To date, the Aboriginal population is over 548,000. Treloar feels that it is a bit sad that the population of other races has increased over ten times more than that of the Aborigines despite its being the oldest race known to mankind, about 65,000 years old.

The Aboriginal language in this book is taken from the Bundjalung and the Dharawal people, and the bulk of the symbols are from Northern Territory. Through this compilation, Treloar hopes that readers see how beautiful and important the Aboriginal history and culture are and how people in Australia, as well as all over the world, can enjoy it.
