"A Secret Gay Passion" is the story of Nicky, a closet homosexual who is petrified to come out as gay to those closest to him, and Richard, an openly gay man who instantly falls in love with Nicky and becomes his savior and soul mate.

Black's narrative is built heavily around the high cost, both physical and emotional, paid by homosexuals who fear to openly display their sexuality because of social stigmas.
