Jim Brumm Discusses Book on KGO San Fran Radio, 3/9

Jim Brumm Discusses Book on KGO San Fran Radio, 3/9

This Saturday night, March 9th at 8 p.m. Pacific, popular San Francisco radio host, Pat Thurston of KGO Radio 810, will be talking to a new, engaging guest: Decision-making expert Jim Brumm, author of "Long-Term Thinking for a Short-Sighted World," to explain how long-term thinking can prevent disasters in one's personal life, as well as in global decision-making.

In response to many of today's "how-could-that-happen" disasters and "last-ditch" decisions like nuclear leaks in Washington state and dropping mice on Guam snakes, Brumm will explore how these usually ineffective "fix the symptom, not the problem" solutions can lead to even worse disasters and are very common in our individual, everyday decision-making. He'll give examples of how to think long-term about life decisions to prevent your own personal disasters.

From larger-scale energy, debt, consumerism, agriculture and health care, to common everyday problems individuals face, there's a need to stop focusing on a narrow piece of the whole when making decisions, when whole-system thinking is needed. Brumm explains how everything in an eco system is connected; if you change one thing, you change everything else.

Brumm says, "We unthinkingly screw something up, then come up with a solution aimed at that specific problem, often without considering what else might be affected by the solution."

In his book, Brumm answers the question asked by many, "How can I live my life in a way that brings satisfaction, balance, happiness, and a sense of value? How can I be part of the solution?" He suggests positive ways to improve our ability to embrace a larger vision of our place in the world. He gives readers tools on how they can actually make a positive difference in their own lives which in turn, affects others.

Conversational, provocative, witty and often laugh-aloud funny, "Long-Term Thinking for a Short-Sighted World" will inspire readers who are seeking ways to realign their priorities and re-examine what brings true, long-term happiness and sustainability.

To hear Brumm's entertaining views on how listeners can learn to think long-term and prevent insanity before it starts in their own lives, tune into KGO Radio in San Francisco, http://www.kgoradio.com/, Saturday March 9, 2013 at 8 p.m. Pacific, and click on "Listen Live."

"This book is long overdue," says Jacque Fresco, of The Venus Project, "This may help bring together those who are really interested in finding long-term solutions for sustainability for all the world's people."
