Having to sell her house due to the mortgage meltdown and then moving to San Francisco to Oakland turned out to be a big-time success story for successful book author and indie film writer and producer Gini Graham Scott, who has published over 50 books with major publishers and written and produced nearly 50 short videos which are featured on the YouTube channel of her company Changemakers Productions.

After joining a SF-based film collective Scary Cow, she has produced two film shorts with the first episode and a sizzle reel from the full feature film to be used in pitching each film to investors: the first was The Parking Lot, about a parking lot fight that escalates into attempted murder, and the most recent is Dead No More, about a woman brought back from cryonics suspension. The Dead No More shoot turned into a real Hollywood By the Bay production that was filmed at the SOMArts Cultural Center with a cast and crew of 30 members, and the filming included a dolly, crane, and even a machine using dry ice to make smoke - and the fire alarm went off two times. Both films are expected to premier at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco the first Saturday in March.

Gini Graham Scott has also turned her experiences in raising funds for her films into a book: Finding Funds for Your Film, which will be published by Hal Leonard's Limelight Editions, which published her previous book:[The Complete Guide to Writing, Producing, and Directing a Low Budget Short Film. The book began as a thesis for an M.S. in Recreation and Tourism, which Scott expects to receive in September 2013, and in the course of applying the techniques she learned in writing the thesis, she managed to raise funds for Executive Producer credit from backers in Arkansas and Texas, as well as California - funds needed after the Dead No More short turned into a Hollywood style production for a two day shoot January 19-20. Additionally, she has already raised $25,000 towards a $50,000 budget for the first in a series of low-budget contemporary dramas, crime, and sci-fi films with $40-50,000 budgets to be shot in San Francisco beginning in April 2013.
