Kyle Zimmer, president and CEO of the nonprofit social enterprise First Book, responded last night to President Obama's comments on early childhood education in the State of the Union address.
"Lack of access to education and resources for America's most vulnerable children is a national crisis, every bit as serious as immigration reform, gun control and the national debt," said Zimmer. "But unlike so many other complex problems, this is one we know how to solve."
"We have been talking about these children for generations," Zimmer said. "All that's lacking is the political will."
Zimmer's complete response is available on First Book's blog.
