The Brooklyn Book Festival, the Brooklyn Literary Council and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz are pleased to announce the launch tomorrow, Friday, March 23, of Brooklyn Book Festival OnePage, a dedicated online space on the Festival's website, brooklynbookfestival.org (click on the OnePage tab), featuring one previously unreleased page from a different author each Friday. The project is made possible with a grant from Amazon.com and will also showcase publishing houses that are a part of the Festival's literary marketplace each year.

OnePage texts will range in subject and form and are exclusive content-from a page of a forthcoming novel to a letter of correspondence to something as intriguing as a page left out of a published work. There will also be a profile of a different publishing company each Friday. OnePage will help build ongoing connections between Brooklyn Book Festival visitors and the authors and publishing companies that have participated in the Festival.

Bestselling author Esmeralda Santiago will launch OnePage with a "behind the scenes" journal excerpt of her latest novel, and a profile of Brooklyn's own independent publishing company, Akashic Books, will also be featured. The first ten authors featured in the project include Tina Chang, Paula Fox, Clark Blaise, Bharati Mukherjee, Martha Southgate, Steve Stern, Darcey Steinke, Stefan Merrill Block and Terese Svoboda.

The list of publishing companies is equally as diverse and represents many different American cities and genres of literature. The first ten publishers include Coffee House Press, McSweeney's, Hanging Loose Press, Coach House Books, Graywolf Press, PM Press, McPherson and Company, Archipelago Books and Poets Wear Prada.

The seventh annual Brooklyn Book Festival is September 23, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Downtown Brooklyn. The Festival is the largest free literary event in New York City, presenting an array of literary stars and emerging authors who represent the exciting world of literature today. One of America's premier book festivals, this hip, smart, diverse gathering attracts thousands of book lovers of all ages. Nearly 40,000 visitors and media from around the world converged on Borough Hall at last year's Festival. The inclusion of top national and international authors and new partners has expanded the Festival's reach while continuing to celebrate and enhance Brooklyn's contemporary and historic literary reputation.

Follow the Festival at brooklynbookfestival.org and on Twitter @bkbf and Facebook.
