Authors of "Living Proof: Telling Your Story to Make a Difference," John Capecci and Tim Cage, have teamed with CaringBridge to promote the work of the nonprofit throughout the month of March.
"Living Proof," selected as one of Kirkus Reviews' Best of 2012, is a step-by-step guide that teaches readers how to prepare and share their life stories to advocate for the causes that are important to them. The message of the book pairs well with the mission of CaringBridge, a nonprofit that enables families and friends to create free, personal and private websites to stay connected, share news and personal stories, and receive support during health events.
"During difficult times, it's easy to feel alone," said Capecci. "Using CaringBridge.org is a way to alleviate that loneliness, reminding people that they have care and support." The nonprofit also encourages its users to share their stories of using CaringBridge, calling them "Amplifiers." They recently launched an online resource, the Amplifier Hub, to support their advocates. "Users' personal stories are particularly important in conveying the powerful experience of using CaringBridge," said Cage.
By pairing with CaringBridge, the "Living Proof" authors hope to bring awareness to the site, which they see as a valuable resource for anyone going through a health crisis. Throughout March, the authors will contribute blog posts to help CaringBridge Amplifiers effectively tell advocacy stories and will promote the organization on their website, Facebook page and Twitter account.
