The National Park Service will present an event on Saturday May 5th at 1:00pm as Carla Peterson talks about and signs her new book, "Black Gotham".
"Black Gotham" is a new work of non-fiction written by Carla Peterson about her ancestors, who were prominent African-Americans in the 19th century.
The performance is free, however, space is limited so reservations are recommended. Call 212-637-2019 for reservations or more information.
The celebration will take place at the African Burial Ground National Monument Visitor Center, located on the first floor of 290 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
The Visitor Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm and closed on Thanksgivng, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Upon entering the building, the public will have to go through airport-like security.
